The founding objective of Bike Thru BBQ was to find creative ways to support local, small businesses and community organizations as they navigate the economic hardships of the COVID pandemic. 

 

We believe the founding objective of Bike Thru BBQ remains important and relevant. Bike Thru BBQ obtained its status as a 501(c)(3) organization in September 2022 with a stated mission to raise awareness and funds for the local community organizations who work to address the persistent challenge of food insecurity across the District of Columbia.

Since May 2020, Bike Thru BBQ has distributed nearly $40,000 in financial donations along with pro bono technical assistance to local businesses as well as local community charities.

 

Bike Thru BBQ has engaged local businesses in everything we have done - from the supply of the product to the distribution of the proceeds. The roster of suppliers or recipients reflects what makes our community special - a blend of family-owned, minority, and immigrant businesses.
